      Health and Safety

Many reputable and safety conscious organisations will use only Milbank Trucks to carry out their lorry loader requirements. We believe this is because we are extremely proactive in the advancement of heath and safety acceptance within the lorry loader sector of the haulage industry. We prefer to leave nothing to chance; all of our procedures are documented and provided to all employees, initially upon commencement of their employment and then updated at regular intervals.

Health and Safety
Our reputation for providing a professional service goes hand-in-hand with our concerns for health and safety. Logistics and lifting operations inherently have a degree of risk associated with them that can never be completely eliminated, known as residual risk, but such risks can be significantly reduced through effective management controls and implementation of safe working practices and procedures. Residual risk is kept to a minimum by having the controls and safe working practices in place and by educating employees to adhere to them. We strive to ensure that these controls are in place and that safety is not blatantly compromised for the commercial benefit of the business. Our dedicated health and safety team work closely with our in house full time Training Offices and both departments enjoy the full support of the Managing Director.
Part of the service offered through our Health and Safety Department is the provision of generic and specific method statements and risk assessments. Site meetings can be arranged to discuss and document  requirements with site specific method statements, lifting plans and risk assessments  generated during the visit if required, or compiled after further information has been gathered and then forwarded via IT systems.

Milbank Trucks Health and Safety Policy Overview

Health and Safety is an integral part of all our operations and is of paramount importance to the future and reputation of each of the companies within the Milbank Group.

It is the policy of Milbank Trucks to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all its employees and other persons who may be affected by its operations under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and associated legislation. The company accepts these obligations and responsibilities ultimately lies with the Managing Director.

We strive to achieve a consistently high standard in providing and maintaining safe and healthy working conditions, safe systems of work and safe work equipment for our employees. All employees are provided with adequate information, training and instruction, and a level of supervision that ensures they use their training and follow instructions given. Directors and employees understand their responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of others that may be affected by the Company's activities and the Company obtains and acts upon professional health and safety advice.

The Managers are responsible for implementing this policy with commitment and leadership; they are responsible for identifying hazards and risks and enforcing the Company's safety procedures.  They are also responsible for ensuring employees understand how to recognise and guard against  foreseeable hazards and how to meet the responsibilities placed upon them. Managers are required to set standards against which our health and safety performance can be measured, conduct audits to ensure compliance with legislation and to consult with employees on health and safety issues.

Employees have a legal duty to work in a safe manner and to co-operate with us in our efforts to create a safer working environment. Disciplinary action is taken against any employee found or reported to be endangering the safety of themselves or others.

As the business develops and grows the Company's Health and Safety Policy is kept up to date by annual review, and safety procedures are revised and re-issued.
